Dave Saffery FuneralDave sadly died on 17th July after being unwell for some months. His funeral will take place at Thanet Crematorium on Monday 3rd August at 2.00pm. The family have requested only family flowers. However if anybody wishes to make a donation to Thanet RC for the Go-Ride program they are running to encourage children to cycle, the family feel this was something very dear to Dave's heart. Any monies raised will be 'ring fenced' and only be used for this program. Please contact Terry Fearn or Colin Inett for any further info. |

Joan KingI am sure you will all be sad to hear that John King's wife Joan died recently. I was in hospital at the time so you may have already heard the following information but as John played a big part in the work of the KCA for many years including rescuing the Rootes Trophy from extinction in the 1950s by instituting our now famous Reliability Trial, & running it for many years, I want to be sure that the news reaches all his Kent cycling friends. Joan's funeral is on Wednesday 8th July. She will be laid to rest at a private family service in Swanley, followed by a thanksgiving service at St Peters Church, College Road, Hextable which will commence at 12.15 p.m. John has requested no flowers but a donation to the Ellenor/Lions hospice would be appreciated. After the service there will be a gathering. We assume that details will be announced at the service. I hope that the KCA will be able to make a suitable donation to the above fund as John played such a large part in the success of the Association from the 1950s onwards. Pat |
