Bill Hurlow - Master frame builderWe are sad to announce that Bill died yesterday 28 February 2010 aged 88, just a few days short of his 89th birthday. He had long been a part of the Kent cycling scene after a lifetime of being involved with creating some of what one could call the most beautiful of frames & in fact it was Bill who made the name of Condor famous for the lugs he designed & produced on the machines he worked on. Monty Young, Condor' owner acknowledges that fact in the great booklet he produced about his company & its ride to fame. Bill also worked for other outlets & always knew if he had been the artist on a particular frame as Ted Hill once found out years ago when showing Bill his much loved Condor bike at an event. Bill took one look at the lugwork & scoffed that he had not done 'those lugs'- someone else had been responsible. They were still fine work. Bill was a 'character' irascible at times but one that will be missed by his many friends in the trade & Kent cycling world. We have no news re funeral arrangements as yet. |

Bill Hurlow's FuneralBill's funeral will be on Tuesday 9th March at Margate Crematorium at 12.40pm. We have no infor re flowers or donations but all are welcome. His good friend John Hunt hopes to have Bill's personal collection of his famous lugs on show. |

OUTDATED CTT ENTRY FORMS BEING USEDWe are surprised to see that some Kent riders are still using an out of date CTT entry form, namely the form with January 2004 in the bottom right hand corner. This was superceded in Jan 2007, & in this age of litigation when these forms could feature in claims in the event of an accident, we ask riders to comply with CTT requirements & organisers to ensure they accept only the Jan 2007 entry forms. It could save you, the KCA & CTT a lot of aggro. |

Q50/11 Changed course detailsPlease note that the Q50/11 has been changed due to problems at the old finish. The new course details are correct in the 2010 SEDC Handbook just out, and have been updated on the SEDC website. |

WEDNESDAY WOBBLERS ROTA This is a reminder that although the Hawkenbury Inn replaced Claygate on our list of pubs, we will not be going there on Dec 16th, on what would have been the usual rota date for Claygate. At the time I needed to put a pre Xmas rota together for magazines, we were not sure about Hawkenbury, so we gave 16th Dec to the Smarden Bell by bringing them forward a week from 23 Dec as they asked if we could miss them out that day as they were booked for Xmas Lunches as most WW pubs are at this time of year. We have therefore cancelled an official WW meet on 23rd Dec due to lack of a venue plus our possibly poor numbers. |

Senior and Senior Team BARI have just completed the Senior and Senior Team BAR tables David Wheeler is our 2009 Champion with an average of 24.970 mph, narrowly beating Andy Miles' average of 24.930. But for Andy's unfortunate chain break in the 12 the result would have been even closer. In 2008 there was no qualifying teams but this year we had no less than three teams competing for the trophy, with VC Elan - Harry Perry Cycles taking top honours ahead of San Fairy Ann CC. I have taken great care to ensure the accuracy of the tables, but mistakes do happen. So if anyone spots any errors or omissions by all means get in touch. John Clegg

WobblersPlease note that after due discussion among all those out today (7 October) it has been decided to replace the White Hart, Claygate on our rota with the Hawkenbury Inn, Hawkenbury, Nr Staplehurst. There has been a general feeling of unrest around & after having several WW speaking highly of the new pub, plus their willingness to take us on board, it has been arranged that we go there on 28th October for a trial run for both sides. The next time we are due at Claygate would be 16 Dec but that slot has been filled by the Smarden Bell coming forward a week as they will not be able to take us on their normal date 23 Dec but can take us on 16th. In fact none of our pubs tried so far can offer us space on 23 Dec due to Special Christmas Lunches etc, so we have decided that we will cancel any official WW meet that day, as we are unable to say just who who will be out so close to Christmas Day.
